Underscore is distributed through the App Store under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. The points below summarise what is specific to Underscore.
License
You get a personal, non-transferable license to use Underscore on Apple devices you own or control. You may not copy the app, redistribute it, or use it to build a competing dataset of its translations.
Content & copyright
Every line in Underscore comes from a public-domain work, and each card credits its author and work. The translations shown in the app are Underscore’s own, made from the original text; they are © Underscore. You are welcome to share the cards the app creates — that is what they are for — including on social media. Wholesale extraction or republication of the translation library is not permitted.
Subscriptions
Underscore Plus is offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription, and as a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Auto-renewing plans renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; you can manage or cancel them in your device’s Settings under Subscriptions. The annual plan’s free trial lasts three days; if you cancel during the trial, Plus stays active until the trial ends and you are not charged.
The Feed
The Feed shows headlines and short summaries from literary publications, always credits the source, and opens every story on the publisher’s own site. The linked articles belong to their publishers; Underscore does not claim any rights over them and is not responsible for their content.
No warranty
Underscore is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep the lines, translations and credits accurate, but we cannot promise the app will be free of errors or interruptions. To report a mistake, write to us — corrections ship quickly.
Changes
If these terms change, this page will be updated and the date above will be revised. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
